On August 8, 2023, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Policy Partnership on Science, Technology, and Innovation (PPSTI) meeting was held in Seattle, United States, with participation from dozens of APEC member economies. The conference focused on the theme of "Technology Commercialization Dialogue: Demand and Supply Side," delving into relevant issues aimed at promoting regional cooperation in technology innovation and technology commercialization.

The Executive Director of China EV100 Low Carbon Integrated Development Institute, Zhang Zhen, was invited to attend a conference and gave a keynote speech on "Driving the Green Hydrogen Supply and Demand Market through Collaborative Innovation." He shared the decarbonization potential of green hydrogen and its key role in achieving sustainable development goals, and introduced China's efforts to promote the scale application and industrial chain development of green hydrogen.

Zhang Zhen emphasized that technological innovation and large-scale application are key drivers for the green hydrogen supply and demand market. While the development prospects of the green hydrogen industry are promising, it still faces challenges. The cost of green hydrogen remains relatively high and requires more investment and technological support to reduce costs. Additionally, further improvements are needed in the storage and transportation technologies for green hydrogen to ensure its safety and economic viability. China is actively building the green hydrogen industry chain and exploring decarbonization paths for industries such as steel, chemicals, aviation, and shipping, which plays a crucial role in promoting the green transformation of the modern industrial system.

The Policy Partnership on Science, Technology and Innovation (PPSTI) is one of the working groups under the APEC Senior Officials' Meeting on Economic and Technical Cooperation (SCE). It was renamed and established in August 2022 from the Industrial Science and Technology Working Group (ISTWG). The mission of PPSTI is to "support APEC in conducting science and technology cooperation and providing effective science and innovation policy recommendations through collaboration among governments, academia, the private sector, and other APEC forums."
