On May 21, Yu Wenfeng, Member of the Standing Committee and Vice Mayor of Kaiping City, Guangdong Province, led a delegation to visit the Shandong Institute of Hydrogen Energy Technology (SIHET) in Jinan City, Shandong Province, for a research visit focused on hydrogen energy industry development. President Zhang Zhen and Vice President Miao Naqian of SIHET received and accompanied the delegation during the exchange.
President Zhang Zhen welcomed the delegation and introduced SIHET’s establishment background and key initiatives. As a provincial-level new R&D institution approved by the Shandong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, SIHET has grown into a critical innovation platform for hydrogen energy in Shandong since its founding in 2020. Its work spans policy research, industry exchanges, technology development, standardization, achievement commercialization, and demonstration promotion. It has facilitated multiple hydrogen energy projects across Shandong, organized national-level industry summits, and provided industrial planning consultations for local governments. President Zhang emphasized SIHET’s commitment to leveraging its platform advantages to support regional hydrogen energy industrial ecosystem development.
Vice Mayor Yu Wenfeng highly commended SIHET’s achievements. He noted that Kaiping City, as a western node city in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, is actively implementing Guangdong Province’s hydrogen energy industry plan to build an "Emerging Hydrogen Energy Equipment Manufacturing Base in the Greater Bay Area." However, challenges remain in technology R&D, project attraction, and policy alignment. He proposed collaboration between SIHET and Kaiping to introduce mature operational models and innovative resources, assist in establishing a local hydrogen energy industry platform, promote industrial chain synergy, and deepen cooperation in technology breakthroughs, enterprise docking, and talent cultivation.
