On September 27th, the commencement ceremony of hydrogen metallurgy project of Angang Group was held in Bayuquan steel base. This project is the world's first set of green hydrogen zero-carbon fluidized bed efficient ironmaking new technology demonstration project. It has fully independent intellectual property rights, and can achieve a breakthrough in the new technology route of low-carbon metallurgy, which is of great significance to help the green and low-carbon innovative development of China's iron and steel industry and achieve the goal of "double-carbon".
It is understood that hydrogen metallurgy is an important path for the iron and steel industry to achieve low-carbon development, but also a new direction for the development of iron and steel metallurgy. Compared with traditional carbon metallurgy, hydrogen metallurgy uses hydrogen as fuel and reductive agent, which can make ironmaking get rid of the dependence on fossil energy and solve the problem of carbon emission from the source.
In July 2021, Ansteel Group signed a joint research and development agreement with Institute of Process Engineering of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of Dalian, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Shanghai University. After more than a year of preliminary technical breakthroughs, the project started construction.
The project adopts the international advanced water lysis technology to realize the large-scale and efficient preparation of green hydrogen; develops the new technology of fluidized bed ironmaking to break through the problem of raw material applicability and reduction efficiency; and integrates key technologies to realize the continuous production of direct reduced iron with high metallotization.
The project is scheduled to be put into operation in 2023, forming a demonstration of the 10,000-ton fluidized bed hydrogen ironmaking project, and providing a "China solution" for the development of hydrogen metallurgical technology in the world.
